How long before I hear XM after I
activate my radio?
It will take about 15 minutes for XM's
system to process your order and begin to send the activation signal.
Anytime over the next 2 days, please turn your radio on and make sure
that the antenna has a clear line of sight to the sky. The radio should
activate within 15-30 minutes. You can verify that the activation is
complete once you are able to change channels on the XM Band. If your
radio has been on for 15-30 consecutive minutes and it has not received
the activation signal, please tune to XM Channel 1 to verify whether or
not you can hear XM's Preview Channel and give XM a call.
If you have a home unit, we recommend that the antenna be placed in a
south facing, clear glass window and away from any devices that generate
microwaves. If you cannot hear Channel 1, you may need to move your
antenna to another window.
Why is there a difference in cost
from Commercial ($24.99) versus a regular consumer account ($9.99)?
A consumer account is established when
customers listen to XM programming for personal use in their vehicle or
home. In a commercial or business setting, such as a doctor's office,
dentist's office, restaurant/bar, retail stores, hair salons, fitness
clubs, malls, greyhound buses, airlines, river cruise boats, etc. many
customers and/or employees are listening to XM programming as background
music. Due to XM's licensing and royalty obligations to artists when
their songs, jokes, etc. are used in a business setting, XM must create
these accounts in XM's Commercial structure.
If you are a consumer, you will pay a
$14.99 activation fee plus monthly service fee of $12.95 for all 160
channels. If you activate on XM's E-care website

you will only need to pay $9.99 for your activation fee plus the monthly
service fee of $12.95
If you are a business, you must be set up as a commercial account.
Commercial accounts are $24.99 with a one-time activation fee of $14.99.

Do I need to have a separate XM
subscription for each radio?
Each radio that is activated will be
charged its own set of fees. Since the
Delphi and
Roady Digital Audio
Receivers can be used in multiple situations, there is only one set of
fees associated with it.
XM accepts MasterCard, Visa, American
Express and Discover credit cards. XM also offers EFT (Electronic Funds
Transfer) from your checking or savings bank account, as well as invoice
billing.
Due to escalating handling and processing costs, XM will charge a
nominal fee of $2 per invoice to subscribers who choose invoice billing
beginning January 1, 2003.
