What is the purpose of the 1GB USB memory stick?
Since the Viewsat 9000HD has USB ports on it, we recommend adding a 1GB memory stick to make the firmware and channel list upgrades much easier. We have received feedback from owners of older models that do not have USB that it can be frustrating having to disconnect the receiver from the entertainment center and TV and then bring the receiver to the computer room for an upgrade. Now you save the newest Viewsat 9000HD manufacturer's bin file onto the memory stick and then plug it into the receiver. It's a simple process in the onscreen menu to upgrade from USB memory stick. Now you can leave your receiver connected to your TV fulltime.

What size of hard drive should I get?
The Viewsat PVR 7000 is hard drive ready when you purchase it as each customer has a specific recording needs. Below are the most popular hard drive sizes with an approximate amount of recording you can expect. It's always wise to get a hard drive one size larger than you are considering so you can save some favourite shows and movies to playback later when nothing is on.
