The disecq switch is a necessary part of a free to air installation if the satellite dish you are connecting to has 2, 3, or 4 LNB’s. The unfortunate problem is the cheap quality of the free diseqc switch that’s included with most FTA receivers. The life expectancy of the free disecq switch is typically less than 1 year. See connection diagram below and the benefits of a high quality switch. If you can stretch your budget by $15 we highly recommend that you include the heavy duty Chieta 4x1 diseqc switch. The Chieta is the best switch on the market with a low insertion loss of only 1.5db which will offer better signal and picture quality (basic switches are 6db of signal loss!) The Chieta is nickel metal cast plated, designed for indoor or outdoor installation and will combine 4 satellites to one digital FTA receiver. Long-term is make sense to spend a few extra dollars more now to have a completely functional FTA satellite system for years to come. All professional installers swear by the quality and performance of the Chieta switch. For them it's simple, go to a customers house, do the installation, and they will not have to worry again about a failing switch or loss of signal or picture quality. Viewsat is the KING!!! May 5, 2008 Reviewer: VS Pro User from United States   This receiver is absolutely great. With a 260 Mhz processor and 32 MB SDRAM, there are practically no freezing issues. The USB Flashing process is very convenient as opposed to the original serial port cables. GOsatellite offered great support. I received my Viewsat in two days. Fast receiver, always a Viewsat fan! February 17, 2008 Reviewer: Brian from Miami, FL   I thought I would write a quick review on how satisfied I am with my new Viewsat Pro.  I owned a Viewsat Platinum that I bought a few years ago here and got some really good use out of it, but I wanted a model that was USB upgradeable and I wanted to a model that recorded.  I can't afford an HD unit yet, so thought about this box.  I can tell you whole heartedly that it was a great decision.  This unit is very fast at changing channels, the on-screen menus and the tv guide are great (much better then the platinum that I have laid to rest, LOL)  I added a 320GB external hard drive with it and now I can record.  All functions well and the best part is the online support for the Viewsat brand, I will always be a Viewsat customer!
