This is Viewsat's most popular receiver that includes all the same features as the Viewsat Xtreme, but adds a blazing 200 MHz processor, 32MB of SDRAM, a USB port for firmware upgrading, new on-screen user interface, a redesigned larger universal remote, and a built-in satellite smart card reader for current and future upgrades.

IMPORTANT INSTALLATION TIP

All free to air satellite receivers come with a basic 4x1 diseqc switch either supplied for free by the product manufacture or added to the order by GOsatellite. The disecq switch is a necessary part of a free to air installation if the satellite dish you are connecting to has 2, 3, or 4 LNB’s. The unfortunate problem is the cheap quality of the free diseqc switch that’s included with most FTA receivers. The life expectancy of the free disecq switch is typically less than 1 year.

If you can stretch your budget by $15 we highly recommend that you include the heavy duty Chieta 4x1 diseqc switch. The Chieta is the best switch on the market with a low insertion loss of only 1.5db which will offer better signal and picture quality (basic switches are 6db of signal loss!) The Chieta is nickel metal cast plated, designed for indoor or outdoor installation and will combine 4 satellites to one digital FTA receiver. Long-term is make sense to spend a few extra dollars more now to have a completely functional FTA satellite system for years to come. All professional installers swear by the quality and performance of the Chieta switch. For them it's simple, go to a customers house, do the installation, and they will not have to worry again about a failing switch or loss of signal or picture quality. Do the install right the first time and do it once.

What is the purpose of the 1GB USB memory stick?
Since the Viewsat Ultra has a USB port on it, it makes firmware and channel list upgrades much easier. We have received feedback from owners of older models that do not have USB that it can be frustrating having to disconnect the receiver from the entertainment center and TV and then bring the receiver to the computer room for an upgrade. Now you save the FTA bin file onto the memory stick and then plug it into the receiver. It's a simple process in the onscreen menu to upgrade from USB memory stick. Now you can leave your receiver connected to your TV fulltime.
